The sound of young London
Reprezent has grown from a DIY south London experiment into one of the most influential youth-led stations in the UK – a place where emerging talent gets real airtime, big-name brands tune in, and the culture keeps moving. But while the organisation had evolved, its website hadn’t. It no longer reflected the confidence, edge or clarity the station needed, and audiences were struggling to find what they came for.

“When we were unsure of direction, they helped shape
our thinking and turned it into a website design we can
be proud of. We’re hugely grateful for the care,
insight and hard work they brought to the project.”Jeremy Layton-Henry, Director

From softlifers to cratediggers
Reprezent’s audiences weren’t a single group; they were a spectrum. At one end were the Softlifers: younger, casual drop-ins who wanted immediacy – what’s live, what’s next, and a quick way to jump straight into the vibe. At the other were the cratediggers: people who wanted depth, discovery and a way to explore the full breadth of the station’s sound. The wider south London community sat across these behaviours, dipping in for live moments or exploring shows in their own time. And then there were the industry listeners – label scouts, producers and journalists – who needed a fast, credible snapshot of emerging talent. Designing for all these audiences meant creating a site that could shift effortlessly between speed, substance and clarity without losing its energy.

Mobile first, because listeners are
Most people discovered Reprezent on their phones – through clips shared by presenters, recommendations between friends or links dropped on social. For Softlifers especially, the mobile experience was the whole experience. If it wasn’t fast, clear and instantly playable, they simply wouldn’t stick around. That meant cutting friction wherever it appeared: fewer taps, cleaner pathways and a layout that could shift seamlessly between live content, show discovery and deep-dive browsing. Designing mobile first wasn’t a technical choice; it was the only way to meet listeners where they already were.

Design matching the culture
The visual design needed to match the station’s personality: bold, energetic and rooted in youth culture, but still clear enough to navigate at speed. Reprezent has a distinctive look and feel and the site needed to carry that same confidence. We stripped things back to a design system that let the content lead. Strong typography, a tighter colour palette and space for artwork and imagery gave DJs and shows a clearer presence. Layouts were kept simple and rhythmic so the site could move between live content, show discovery and deeper exploration without visual noise.

Tune into your mood
Reprezent isn’t just something you listen to, it’s something you watch, share and experience in real time. The new site makes space for that, letting people watch a live show when it’s being streamed just as easily as they can listen in. To help people find their way in, we created simple, intuitive routes through the content. Moods give Softlifers a quick way to drop straight into something that fits how they’re feeling. For those who want to dig deeper, we introduced genre tagging, curated collections and richer show pages – tools that open up the archive without overwhelming it. We also added live-to-playback switching. Instead of sending listeners off to an audio-streaming platform, everything now happens in one place. You can move effortlessly between what’s happening right now and something from the archive without ever breaking the flow.
